A special evening......

Tonight we had the pleasure of hosting Jordin Sparks.  She sang, read a story, and had the kids create some crafts.  She gave each of the kids an autographed teddy bear which was really special.  She signed autographs and took lots of pictures with them as well. She is a genuine caring young Christian woman that I am proud to now call a friend of S.W. We are grateful for PacMoore for sponsoring her appearance.  It was a wonderful and memorable evening we will never forget.

I apologize for blogs being sporadic. I've had some technical difficulties with my laptop.  I wanted to share with you our theme verse for 2012 -

"Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable -if anything is excellent or praiseworthy -think about such things."  Phil. 4:8

I sense this year is going to be special. I do not know why, I just feel it.  I hope to share a lot of wonderful things this year with you.  Not that the years before were not special, but something is different ........

What can one say about a lady that used her life in service of others.  Kathryn Nickell was born in 1914.  Can you imagine the many changes in the world that she witnessed. Yet throughout she remained steadfast - volunteering, caring for others and making a tremendous difference to those she knew.

I met Kathryn about 10 years ago.  She was a volunteer at S.W.  I really got to know her when she started modeling at our annual fashion show.  She was the highlight of the evening. She would strut her stuff, flirt with officers, and make everyone adore her with her little wink.  I loved seeing her and enjoyed her friendship.  In the last year as her cancer progressed she still had that little spunky spirit about her.  I will miss this dear little lady and all the joy she brought to our little part of the world.  I am sure she is strutting her stuff up in heaven with all the saints who went before her.
