Dave Wheelock

Since our beginning, Dave Wheelock has been a part of Sheltering Wings. He oversaw the original construction in 2001. He became our part time facilities manager a few years ago. No day is the same for Dave. He might be fishing out toys from a stopped up toilet, fixing a computer, shoveling snow, and most recently taking apart our playground equipment or moving a fence so construction can begin. He is an unsung hero.

He is only one of two men employed at Sheltering Wings. He puts up with a lot of from us women. Tonight I salute Dave Wheelock - an amazing man we have been blessed to call our co-worker and friend.

Groundbreaking Today
Written by Maria Larrison

Today was a grand day. There were well over 80 people that attended this spectacular day's event.  It was the culmination of many hours of prayer, lots of discussions, difficult decisions,  strategic planning, a feasibility study, recruiting volunteers to help with our silent capital campaign, soliciting partners to give of their time, talents and treasure, planning for our women and children's safety during construction, tracking of pledges, thanking the many people that have helped in this process, and finally giving glory and honor to our Lord.

The shelter began well over ten years ago as small whisper upon Sue Hoffeditz' heart. What began as the church and her righteous anger over the lack of resources for women suffering from domestic abuse, turned into something much bigger than anyone thought.

Tomorrow's a big day in our history

Well tomorrow is our official groundbreaking ceremony. It has been a long process, dating back many years. A lot of planning, prayer and hours have went into the expansion project. We have been so very blessed to have Jeff Rigdon with Edwards-Rigdon helping guide us the construction project. Along with Bob Snyder with BSA Lifestructure to help with the creation and development of the architectural part of the project. Both men and organizations have donated and dedicated many works hours to helping us define what is being built.

It will be a grand day that I hope all will see God's glory.
