 October is Domestic Violence Awareness MonthHow big of a problem is domestic violence? According to the US Department of Justice, four women are murdered each day by an intimate partner. In the United States, it is estimated that a woman is beaten every 9 seconds. Studies suggest that between 3.3 and 10 million children are exposed to domestic violence annually. Fortunately domestic violence is a social problem that can be solved. Sheltering Wings is here to help the victims of domestic abuse 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. But that's only part of our mission. During October and throughout the rest of the year, we help the community better understand domestic abuse, how it affects children, and what we can all do to bring it to an end.
