October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October marks the annual observance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, an opportunity to remember the victims of domestic violence and to call attention to ways to bring this problem to an end. Once again, Sheltering Wings will take the opportunity to reach out to the communities we serve in a number of ways. We invite you to participate in any or all of the following events:

Tuesday, September 30
Annual Vigil
Join us as we remember lives lost and celebrate those who have been saved.
Location: Sheltering Wings, Danville
Time: 6:30pm

Tuesday, October 7
Safe Dating/Teen Dating Violence Event/Concert
Learn more about preventing the dangers of dating violence.  Concert with Blake Whiteley, hear a survivor share her story, games, giveaways, safe dating pledge.
Location: Metropolis Mall Futura Park, Plainfield (Alternate location of Serendipity for inclement weather)
Time: 6:30pm

Tuesday, October 14
Domestic Violence Training 101
Want a deeper understanding of domestic violence and how you can help?
Location: Sheltering Wings, Danville
Time: 6:30pm

Tuesday, October 28
Pastor Training and Breakfast
Learn what you and your congregation can do to help victims of violence.
Location: Kingsway Christian Church, Avon
Time: 8:30am

Thursday, October 30
Dine Out Against Domestic Violence
Eat at your favorite local restaurant and a % of your purchase will support Sheltering Wings.
Location: Various locations throughout Brownsburg, Avon and Plainfield (visit our website closer to the event for a list of restaurants participating)
